First introduced in 1967, the Krugerrand was the world's first modern Gold bullion coin in the world and still a favourite of collectors and investors today. This coin offers a great value way to invest in gold. Minted to help market South African gold and produced by Rand Refinery and the South African Mint. The name is a compound of Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic, and rand, the South African unit of currency. By 1980 the Krugerrand accounted for more than 90% of the global gold coin market and was the number one choice for investors buying gold.

The obverse depicts the profile of Paul Kruger, the former President of Zar from 1883-1902. The Image of Kruger is surrounded by the inscriptions of “SUID-AFRIKA” and “SOUTH AFRICA,” stating the name of the country in both English and Afrikaans.

The reverse side of the Krugerrand features the springbok antelope and the words “KRUGERRAND,” “1971” and “FYNGOUD 1 OZ FINE GOLD.”

As this coin is struck from 22ct gold, it attracts 10% GST which is included in the purchase price.
